Canada's image lies in tatters. It is now to climate what Japan is to whaling

From the Guardian. The Neo-Tories can make all the excuses they want, it doesn't change the fact that as far as the world is concerned they will get to wear this, and it looks good on them.

The tar barons have held the nation to ransom. This thuggish petro-state is today the greatest obstacle to a deal in Copenhagen

When you think of Canada, which qualities come to mind? The world's peacekeeper, the friendly nation, a liberal counterweight to the harsher pieties of its southern neighbour, decent, civilised, fair, well-governed? Think again. Hmmm, think I'll check out the headlines in the st... OH MY GOD WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE!

Sorry, I couldn't resist, in light of my last post. I can't help but think the media is helping stoke a dangerous level of paranoia about this situation.

Of course everyone should get the flu shot, but that has always been the case.

Update: Maybe we'll get somthing to really panic about.

Here we go

I caught the new Conservative adds on TV last night on Sunday Night Football.

It is just a little strange that their opening salvo is still a shot about Michael Ignatieff having lived in the US for a decade (teaching at Harvard for some of that, wasn't he?).

You have to wonder at the strategy of decrying an affinity for the US to the Canadians watching American football. Their polling must have told them it would work.

Their other tactic might work however, as they seem to be sticking with the "an election could hurt the economic recovery" line. The sad part is that kind of fearmongering might stick if they keep saying it enough. We shall see.

Now this gaffe deserves some attention...

Hard to find good help, eh Steve? Maybe embarrassing moments like this wouldn't happen if you weren't so preoccupied with taking partisan pot-shots at inappropriate times.
